FAQs

Domestic & Commercial Renewable Energy

Do you install solar panels for homes as well as businesses?

1

Yes. We deliver both domestic and commercial solar PV installations. This includes systems for private homes, landlords, schools, public buildings, and large commercial or industrial sites.

Where do you work?

2

We are based in Leeds and carry out projects across Yorkshire and the wider UK. While many installations are regional, we also deliver specialist projects nationwide, particularly where experience with complex or heritage-sensitive sites is required.

How do I know if my property is suitable for solar PV or battery storage?

3

We carry out a site assessment to evaluate factors such as roof orientation, available space, energy usage, and existing electrical infrastructure. Based on this, we recommend a system that suits your property and energy goals.

Can battery storage be installed without solar panels?

4

Yes. Battery storage systems can be installed independently of solar PV. This allows homes and businesses to store electricity from the grid during off-peak energy tariff periods and use it when energy demand or prices are higher.

Do you install EV charging points?

5

Yes. We install EV charging infrastructure for both residential and commercial customers, including single home chargers, workplace charging, and multi-unit or fleet charging solutions.

Do you work on heritage or listed buildings?

6

Yes. We have experience delivering heritage-sensitive solar PV installations, including work on landmark and listed buildings such as York Minster. Each project is designed to respect planning constraints, architectural integrity, and conservation requirements.

Costs, Timescales & Process

How much does a solar PV installation cost?

7

The cost of solar PV installation depends on factors such as system size, roof type and site complexity. We provide tailored assessments and transparent quotations based on your specific requirements.

How long does a solar PV installation take?

8

Installation times vary by project size and complexity. Domestic installations typically take one to two days, while commercial or heritage projects may take longer due to access, approvals, or system scale.

Do you handle permissions and approvals?

9

Associated Clean Technologies can cover all aspects of your project from start to finish. We manage the grid connection process which includes application and notifications with the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO). Response to DNO applications are typically between 10-65 working days. Where required, we can support the planning and approvals process, particularly for commercial, public sector, and heritage projects. Domestic installations often fall under permitted development, but this is assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Trust, Accreditation & Aftercare

What should I look for when choosing a renewable energy installer?

10

When choosing a renewable energy installer, it’s important to look for accreditations, experience, and proven project delivery. Installers should be MCS certified, compliant with relevant industry standards, and able to demonstrate completed projects similar to yours. Experience with planning, grid connection, and system design is especially important for larger, commercial, or heritage-sensitive installations. Customer reviews, case studies, and clear warranties are also key indicators of a reliable installer.
