Ryedale Auctioneers

27.30 kWp

Ryedale Auctioneers is Angus Ashworth's renowned Yorkshire Auction House, known for its regular auctions and specialist sales from its base near Kirkbymoorside in North Yorkshire. The site will be familiar to many as the home of the popular television series The Yorkshire Auction House, which follows Angus and his team as they discover and sell everything from antiques and collectibles to farm clearances and estate lots.

With the site expanding and electricity costs continuing to climb, Angus explored the option of installing solar PV to reduce the business's energy bills while also supporting its environmental credentials.

ACT installed 65 solar panels, creating a 27.30 kWp system that is expected to generate approximately 24.49 MWh of clean electricity per year. The system features SolarEdge inverters and optimisers, providing panel-level monitoring and ensuring each panel performs to its full potential regardless of partial shading or varying roof conditions.

Since the installation was completed in July 2023, the solar array has consistently been covering between 50–60% of Ryedale Auctioneers' electricity needs, a strong result for a site with varied demand patterns across auction days, quieter preparation periods, and the additional lighting and equipment requirements that come with filming.

For a business that's all about finding value, this system is delivering exactly that - reliable, long-term savings on electricity costs with the added benefit of reducing the site's carbon footprint.
